THE GROWN-UP GAP YEAR

Pelorus in the press

Pelorus Yachting has been featured in BOAT International’s October 2026 issue in The Grown-Up Gap Year, an article by Risa Merl exploring the rise of the superyacht sabbatical. The feature looks at how owners, charterers and families are planning longer journeys by yacht, with Pelorus recording a 75 per cent increase in enquiries for yacht charters lasting more than 14 days compared with the same period last year.

The piece also includes insight from Gayle Patterson, Director of Yachting at Pelorus, on why longer does not always mean better. Rather than adding more destinations, she explains the importance of defining the purpose of a journey first, then leaving enough flexibility for wildlife, weather and unexpected opportunities to shape the experience.

Alongside the editorial feature, Pelorus Yachting also appeared in the October issue with a single-page advert led by the line The Brave. The Bold. The Curious. The creative reflects Pelorus’ approach to yachting as a way to see the world from a different perspective, combining remote access, curiosity and time on the water.

“That often creates a longer itinerary, but not a better trip. Instead, define the purpose first and leave enough flexibility for wildlife, weather and unexpected opportunities to shape the journey.”

For Pelorus, the value of a longer yacht journey lies in purpose, pace and flexibility. Our team designs extended charters around the right yacht, route, crew and specialist access, leaving space for the moments that cannot be scheduled.
