Number one unforgettable travel experience?

Exploring the lost island of Socotra was truly unforgettable. This extraordinary island sandwiched between Yemen and Somalia boasts endemic flora and fauna and utterly unique landscapes and environments not found anywhere else on earth. The Socotri people are a mix of fisherman and bedouin and are utterly charming. Despite its geopolitical location the people are hugely hospitable and you feel very safe and welcome.

Top of your travel bucket list?

Gabon is currently top. To see hippos surfing onto the beaches alongside forest elephant and gorillas is a totally unique wildlife experience to Gabon. This coupled with its extensive national park network and few tourists makes it all the more desirable.

Who is your ultimate travel partner?

It would have been fascinating to travel with Marco Polo. To hear of his experiences as the first European to discover much of Asia, and to revisit the lesser known parts of the silk route in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan would be extraordinary.
